The Centre
The Interdepartmental Centre for Irish Studies (CISIRL) was founded – in accordance with Article 91 of Presidential Decree No 382 of 11 July 1980 and the statutory and regulatory provisions in force at each of its member universities – to develop joint initiatives for the promotion of research.
At the time of its establishment, the following university departments were members of the centre:
- For the University of Turin, the Dipartimento di Lingue e Letterature Straniere e Culture Moderne [Modern Languages and Literatures and Cultures];
- For the University of Florence, the Dipartimento di Formazione, Lingue, Intercultura, Letterature e Psicologia (FORLILPSI) [Formation, Languages, Interculture, Literatures and Psychology];
- For the University of Palermo, the Dipartimento di Scienze Umanistiche (SUM) [Department of Humanities];
- For the University of Sassari, the Dipartimento di Scienze Umanistiche e Sociali (DUMAS) [Humanities and Social Sciences].
