Sassari

The Centro di Studi Irlandesi di Sassari [The Sassari Centre for Irish Studies] was established in 2010. Since then, it has been active in the dissemination of English-language Irish literature and culture on a national and international level by means of publications, seminars, workshops, theatre workshops, external collaborations, and cultural events, involving students at the University of Sassari and reaching as diverse an audience as possible.

The centre was a stage of the Irish Itinerary, coordinated by Professor Loredana Salis, for six editions. Professor Salis founded the centre with the collaboration of colleagues and scholars within the discipline, one of whom was Professor Giuseppe Serpillo.

As a three-time member of the EFACIS Board, Professor Salis participated in the international projects YEATS Reborn (2015), Translating Banville (2018), and Enright Project (2022). She has recently contributed to the German Irish Studies Itinerary.

Among her publications are a single-subject issue of the journal SIJIS dedicated to the Irish diaspora, translations of writings by Yeats and G.B. Shaw, and a critical edition of Constance Markievicz's letters from prison and of her political writings.
